OUTINGS-TRIPS-ACTIVITIES

This page presents the outings and trips organized by the Lycée Sévigné, as well as the projects carried out by our students in partnership with various organizations (associations, businesses, local authorities, etc.). These trips allow students to gain exposure to the professional world and other cultures (travel abroad). Student travel during school trips and outings contributes to the educational mission of secondary schools. A new impetus for opening the French education system to the European and international context has been given, in particular, within the framework of the high school reform. One of the missions of the local public educational establishment (EPLE) is now to promote the development of student mobility, especially abroad, by integrating it into school partnerships.

Trip to Cologne: professional immersion and language immersion

On November 25, 2025, final-year STMG students and BTS SAM students participated in an educational trip to Cologne. The highlight of the day was a visit to STARTPLATZ (https://www.startplatz.de/), a business incubator and coworking space renowned for its dynamism. The students were able to discover how an ecosystem dedicated to innovation and supporting startups operates. The afternoon was spent exploring Cologne's city center, strolling through the Christmas market, and visiting its imposing cathedral.

Organized by the second-year BTS SAM class, this day immersed the students in a true linguistic experience and allowed them to broaden their horizons in German culture. The organizers deserve our warmest thanks.

Franco-German exchange

Lycée Sévigné – Marienschule

Around twenty Year 11 students from Lycée Sévigné spent a week in Germany, in Euskirchen, with the family of their pen pal.

A program rich in discoveries allowed them to approach German history from 1945 to the present day in the completely redesigned museum of the "Haus der Geschichte" in Bonn.

They were also able to experience, for a few fittings, the spirit of the famous Cologne carnival by slipping into costumes of all kinds…

By sharing the daily life of their pen pal at school and at home, the cultural differences taught became a reality… what discoveries!

A Franco-German day in Aachen

On December 2nd, 2026, early in the morning, we set off to meet about fifty students from our partner school, the Marienschule in Euskirchen. They too had traveled to Aachen to meet us. They were waiting to get to know us, and we did some activities together. To communicate, we used each other's language: a real challenge! After sharing lunch, we set off in small groups made up of students from both countries to explore the city center of Aachen, following riddles to solve.

Even though we don't want to leave each other, it's already time to go home. We've made new friends and some of us have even found their future exchange partners for the exchange program that will take place in the spring!

50 years of Franco-German exchange at the Lycée Sévigné

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, our German correspondents arrived to stay for a week at the school and with our families: we are participating in the Franco-German exchange and this year we are celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the partnership between the Lycée Sévigné and the Marienschule of Euskirchen.

Over 60 years ago, the leaders of our two countries expressed their desire to build a friendship between France and Germany: they signed the Élysée Treaty. This idea of solidarity between our two populations within Europe was renewed in the Treaty of Aachen in 2019.

In our own way, we wanted to mark this cordial agreement, and we gathered this Friday morning to plant the shrub that now stands in the center of the courtyard of the Lycée Sévigné, symbolizing Franco-German friendship, celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of our partnership, and promising a long period of cooperation between our two schools. The forsythia, symbolically watered with water from the Erft, the river that flows through Euskirchen, was planted while Pauline and Ninon performed Ode to Joy for us on the piano and flute.

On this occasion, Mr. Mombaur, the director of the Marienschule and Mr. Minart, German inspector of the Academy of Reims, honored us with their presence.

We warmly thank Mr. Pfaff, our Headmaster, Mrs. Dété and all the staff who worked for the success of this project.

Since 1975, within the framework of the cherished Franco-German friendship, a special partnership has existed between the Lycée Sévigné in Charleville-Mézières and the Marienschule in Euskirchen. Each year, the German teachers offer second-year students the opportunity to participate in a language exchange with a young German student. Each French student spends one week during school hours with their German exchange partner's family, and then the German student spends one week with their French exchange partner.

November 25, 2025: International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

On Tuesday, November 25, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Mrs. Chevalme, CPE, spoke to the 1BTSSP3S class to raise awareness among students about this major societal issue.

This intervention enabled students to be informed, to exchange ideas and to reflect on the different forms of violence against women, their consequences, and the importance of prevention and collective mobilization.

Following this awareness-raising, the 1BTSSP3S class, during professional action time with their teacher Mrs. Colinet, embarked on a practical project by creating posters to prevent violence against women.

The students thus participated in this awareness-raising initiative. Part of the class designed posters and others slogans, inspired by the poster-pasting movement, in order to convey strong, committed and impactful messages to the public.

All of this work will be displayed within the high school in order to raise awareness among as many pupils and students as possible.

The Digital Fresco: a workshop to train responsible communicators

The BTS Communication students participated in a Digital Fresco workshop, a collaborative educational tool aimed at raising awareness of the environmental impacts of digital technology.

Working in teams, they analyzed the different stages of the digital technology lifecycle (device manufacturing, network infrastructure, data centers, everyday use, etc.). This comprehensive exploration highlighted the often invisible challenges behind screens. The workshop alternated between group reflection, discussions, contextualization, and debate, fostering awareness of the environmental consequences of digital use, as well as potential solutions and courses of action.

As future communication professionals, students will be able to adopt more responsible practices in the design of content, campaigns and digital devices; propose eco-responsible communication strategies and support organizations in implementing a responsible communication approach.

Discovering careers in communication

As part of their exploration of the world and its key players in communication, our first-year BTS Communication students had the opportunity to meet several professionals who shared their career paths and perspectives on the profession. These practical discussions provided a better understanding of the diversity of roles, the skills required, and the realities of daily life in the communication sector.

Educating our students also means getting closer to the professional world, opening up perspectives so they can confidently project themselves into the future...

The students were able to discover the realities of a profession integral to their training and to discuss it with him before presenting, in turn, the BTS SAM program and some of their internship experiences.

This meeting marks the beginning of a mentoring program that will allow students to link their theoretical training with field practices.

Many thanks to Mr. Garnier for his commitment to young people and his willingness to share his experience.

Welcoming two local personalities

Last Tuesday, our 1st year STMG students had the opportunity to speak with two local figures with rich and inspiring careers:

  • Hamid ZAIM, Sports Director of the THZ Boxing Academy club, a local sports association.
  • Jérôme MOINET, head of the company MOINEO – Credit broker.

🎯 The objective of this meeting was to allow students to discover concretely how an association and a private company operate: their status, their purposes, their resources but also the values that drive them.

💡 Through these exchanges, our students became aware that beyond structures, there are life paths marked by effort, self-improvement, respect and resilience.

🙏 We warmly thank Mr. ZAIM and Mr. MOINET for their availability and commitment to young people.

These moments of openness to the professional and associative world fully participate in the mission of the high school: to train our students, to support them in their career choices and to transmit values for the future.
